Helping Participants Access Medication for OUD
- Many treatment courts rely on their
team members or local SUD treatment
programs to determine whether medication
is indicated and to identify qualified
medical practitioners.
- Some treatment programs may have
limited or no access to, or familiarity
with, medications for OUD. In some
cases, programs may be biased against
medication. To effectively provide
services to treatment court participants,
treatment courts must use providers
who are able to quickly connect participants
with programs and professionals
offering evidence-based treatments that
include medication.
